I was asked to share how True Life Counseling has impacted my life. Where do I begin?
I received counseling for several months due to depression and not knowing how to set healthy boundaries and hold to them. I was convinced that it was “my” problem, that there was something wrong with me. After all, that was what the people in my life were telling me. It had been a consistent theme from early childhood and so I believed it.
Through the Life’s Messages diagram I understood that what I was believing was a lie. I was given the truths and the tools to make them my life experience and I have been greatly amazed at the changes in how I view myself, God and those around me. I am learning through practice to not allow others to define who I am. When that begins to happen I know to set my mind on what Jesus says about me and to give the other person ownership of what they think and feel. I am learning to love and accept myself and see the potential in me.
The counselor did a personality profile on me and that helped me in so many ways to understand myself and the way God equipped me to walk through life. I have also gained an understanding of the other personality types and can see them in others. This has greatly helped me to relax in relationships and understand why others respond the way they do.
The truths about my true identity and God’s true identity are growing in me every day. I am excited to see what God up to and, for the first time, I believe I am worth His attention. I believe what it says in Jeremiah when it says that, “...God has plans for me to prosper and not be harmed and to have hope and a future!”
I thank God for the folks at TLC and am grateful for the life-changing truths and tools they so lovingly gave me that will last a life time. C.C. |
